Augusta Community Volunteer Fire Department
About Us:
Augusta Community Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 1800
people living in an area of 77 square miles. We operate out of 2
stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is
a public department whose members are on a volunteer status.
Augusta, the heart of Wine Country, is located
about 45 miles west of St. Louis in the rolling hills on State Highway
94, just north of the Missouri River. In 1904 the Volunteer Fire
Company of Augusta Missouri was formed to provide fire protection
to the town of Augusta. It was reorganized in 1928 as the Augusta
Volunteer Fire Company. Since 1953 we have used the name Augusta
Community Volunteer Fire Department and have provided emergency
services to the town of Augusta as well as the unincorporated areas
in southwest St. Charles County. In 1970 an election was held to
form a tax supported district. The Augusta Fire Protection District
is protected, under contract, by the Augusta Community Volunteer
Fire Department. We run an average of 99 calls per year over the
last 15 years. However, in the last 6 years, we have been over 100
and seem to have more each year. Training is held on the first Tuesday
of every month. We have a work night for cleaning & maintaining
the apparatus and stations on the second Tuesday of the month. Our
monthly business meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month
at station 1.
